What types of aerial drones do you use?

Depending on your productions needs and budget, we have several types of aerial drones.

The real time video feed to the camera monitor means the director can quickly see if he got the shot he wanted.

How high can the drone fly?

The main limitation isn’t really the altitude but the fact that in an urban environment, the pilot must always keep the drone in sight. If we are in an open outdoor area (like a forest, a desert or the sea) then we can program GPS waypoints and let the drone fly by itself, but in most cases we are flying near buildings and people so it’s imperative the pilot has a direct line of sight with the drone.

Now if we are looking for maximum height, the number is usually around 300 meters, depending on the load, the weather and the the wind.

How long can the drone fly for?

Flight time is very variable and depends on the weather, the strength of the wind and the weight of the camera.

Our 8-engine multi-copter has a flight time between 12 to 20minutes.

The IA3 has a flight time of up to  10 minutes

What are the limitations of the drone?

The first one is the rule of law, we always make sure we have all the permits and NOC letters required to fly above a certain area.

The second is the weather, strong winds are a big no-fly rule. If the winds are too strong (above 18 knots) then the video will be shaky and could possibly harm the drone.

Of course it can’t fly in the rain or stormy weather.

How long does it take to set-up?

No longer than 30minutes, the important part is to always make sure we have a safe take-off and landing area which is free from people and onlookers.

Which cameras do you carry?

We can fly with both a RED Epic or the Canon 5D mark3.

  • The RED Epic  is great for big feature films and high end corporate videos.
  • The Canon 5D mark3 is better for filming smaller productions and TV shows.

How many people does it take to control the drone?

It takes 2 people, one pilot who controls where the drone is going and a camera operator who controls the movements of the onboard camera.

How much does it cost?

Our aerial shoot starts at AED 5,000.

Can you take still shots?

Yes we can.

For any questions don’t hesitate.
